This intensive course begins with a 5-day construct providing a comprehensive exploration of open-source research using Cynthia Hetherington's CRAWL(TM) method. Participants will develop a mindset-first approach to conducting thorough and effective investigative research. At this basic level, we combine theoretical knowledge with practical assignments to ensure learners can confidently apply the principles of online research in real-world scenarios. The next 10 days are a continuation at the applied level and provide an in-depth study of CRAWL(TM) ensuring that analysts grasp the value and applicability of the OSINT, analytical tradecraft.
Prerequisites
Participants should have a basic understanding of OSINT and digital investigations, particularly in the context of government intelligence gathering. Prior experience in law enforcement, national security, or intelligence is recommended but not required. Basic knowledge of data analysis tools is beneficial.
Attendees will be required to have a basic knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, common internet browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Edge), and basic knowledge of saving, storing, and retrieving common file types (pdf, doc, ppt, xls, etc.).

Course Objectives:
Create Concepts of Operations (CONOP) that will aid in region specific tasks
Demonstrate a strategy for collecting data and managing attribution
Geo-referencing- using text, imagery, language, and symbolism to visualize or pinpoint datasets
Build comprehensive picture of a person or group of interest through personality discovery
Conduct due diligence to identify and visualize network, attributes, and connections
Object location and Identification to provide detailed significance that aids in decision making
Video search and evaluation
International public records and legal filings
Prepare investigative reports for legal proceedings
